Kyrenia Harbour
Whatever you do in Northern Cyprus, make sure you visit the old harbour in Kyrenia at least once on your holiday.
You’ll probably recognise the familiar harbour from Cyprus brochures – it’s got to be one of the most photographed harbours in the Med!
It’s a charming little harbour, with cobbled streets and alleyways leading from it. Formerly a working harbour, these former carob warehouses are now restaurants, cafes and shops.

To the far end of the harbour is Kyrenia Castle which is also worth a visit. One of the four Crusader Castles, it displays relics from a shipwreck said to be one of the oldest in the world.
If you fancy a spot of shopping whilst you’re in Kyrenia, the main street and side streets have some good shops and great bargains. Leather handbags, clothes and jewelry shops are popular here as well as the usual tourist shops too. And after all that shopping you can enjoy a cool drink or two in one of the many cafes and outdoor bars.

You can get to Kyrenia by taxi, Dolmus or driving – if driving there are plenty of reasonably priced car parks near the centre of the town. We recommend the one near the Colony Hotel, just past the roundabout. It costs about 6 YTL (that’s about a £1) and there’s always plenty of parking spaces.
